Can evaporated milk spoil?

I have evaporated milk that expired on June 25th, 2024. Do you think it’s still safe to use? If not, can I substitute regular milk for it?

Expired evaporated milk? No sweat! Unlike regular milk, it’s shelf-stable for a long time. Here’s the deal:

  • Unopened: Likely good for months past the date (June 25th, 2024 in your case).
  • Opened: Check for bulging cans, leaks, or weird smells. If unsure, toss it.

Substitute? Use half milk, half water for every cup of evaporated milk. But remember, it’ll be thinner and less sweet.

If it has expired it is not safe to use

You should throw it away as it is already harmful for human consumption

Yes, of course evaporated milk can spoil.

If it seems normal when you open it, everything should be OK. I’ve opened expired evaporated milk previously and found the contents to be a little strange (darker/a touch curdled), but I’ve also used it without any problems.

Yes, evaporated milk can go bad, but its shelf life depends on whether it’s unopened or opened

I agree with you, and also the place where the milk is kept and also the type of milk.
