The trick is all about using Sweetened Condensed Milk or Evaporated milk (the one without sugar). That’s the game-changer.

Ingredients

1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 large egg
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons instant yeast
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk)
Additional butter and condensed milk for brushing

Instructions

  1. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, condensed milk, egg, sugar, and instant yeast until well combined.
  2. Add dry ingredients: Add the flour and salt to the wet mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the dough: Punch down the dough and divide it into two pieces. Roll out each piece and fold it tightly, sealing the edges. Cut the dough into 7 pieces and arrange them in a loaf pan lined with parchment paper.
  6. Second rise: Cover the loaf pan and let the dough rise for another 45 minutes in a warm place.
  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Brush the top of the dough with egg wash and bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Glaze: Mix melted butter and condensed milk, then brush over the hot bread for an extra touch of sweetness.
