I’m looking for some easy dessert recipes that I can whip up without spending too much time in the kitchen. Between work and family commitments, I don’t have a lot of free time, but I still want to treat my family to something sweet and delicious. Any favorites or go-to recipes you swear by? I’m especially interested in no-bake options or anything that uses fresh summer fruits. Bonus points if it’s a hit with kids! Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
When our sweet tooth is STRONG, we make what we like to call “crack,” and it’s super easy to prepare.
Ingredients:
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 pack of saltines
- 1 bag of semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the saltines in a single layer on top.
- Melt the butter on the stovetop (or in the microwave) and mix in the brown sugar. You might need more sugar, but this is the ratio I remember.
- Evenly distribute the sugar mixture over the saltines.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the sugar mixture.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and broil until the chocolate chips just start to melt (about 5 minutes).
- Spread the melted chocolate chips evenly over the saltines and let the mixture set in the fridge until cool.
You can typically cut the cooled treat into saltine-sized pieces, but we just break it into chunks. It lasts forever!
