First Cake in Honor of Mom - She Would Have Loved It

Hi guys…

I recently inherited my mom’s mixer after she passed away, and it’s been sitting in my kitchen, waiting for the right moment. Yesterday, on her birthday, I decided to put it to good use and made my very first cake in her honor.

I went with an enhanced funfetti box mix (she loved funfetti!) and topped it with homemade buttercream. It’s not perfect—I’m still learning—but I think she would have loved it.

Baking with her mixer made me feel connected to her, and every step reminded me of how much love she put into her cooking. :sparkling_heart:

I’m sorry for your loss - that looks like a really nice cake! Mixers are such a great piece of equipment, great that you are putting it to good use!

Thank you :hugs: It was well loved by her and I’m planning on doing the same!

I inherited all of my mom’s baking equipment and recipes too when she passed. It’s bittersweet. I’m sorry for your loss, sending you motherly love from here

Your cake looks amazing. Good job hon! Happy birthday mom!

Aww that’s so sweet that you used the mixer you inherited from her to make a cake in honor of her birthday

Sorry for your loss, hon :frowning:

The cake looks yum though and festive too! Good job! Now can I get a piece?

That’s a lovely cake, you are honouring her well, I’m sure she’d be proud. Now enjoy it with a cuppa ^.^

That year of ‘firsts’ after the loss of a loved one is especially challenging. What a lovely way to honor your mom.

What a sweet gesture!

Real sweet of you. Sorry for your loss.

It’s lovely to use her mixer in honour of her, enjoy the cake💖
