The tiny designs are so cute! Every year I try and fail to decorate cookies like this, lol. Any tips?

Thank you! I use a paper cone (made with a triangle of parchment paper, there are tutorials to help you make one if you’ve never done it before). I only snip the tiniest piece from the tip so the opening is very small. That gives me a lot of control over the designs, and I can always make the opening larger if I need to. I start by marking the middle of the cookie with a tiny dot as a guide, then I trace my lines (5, 6 or 8) from the edge inward. After the main lines are there, you just add to them as you see fit.

Not OP but I do similar gingerbread cookies every year and my tip is to buy premade tubes of royal icing from the craft store when the cookies are homemade and the decorations are hand-piped, no one minds that you didn’t make the icing yourself.

It’s hard to find the tastiest in-store icing. Any recs?
I’ve only ever used Satin Ice, so I can’t say it’s better or worse than any other brands, but I have no complaints!

Love gingerbread! That said, best I will be doing is a few blobby, squiggly lines that vaguely resemble an asterisk.
I love that the cookies look thematically the same even while each one is different from the others, just like snowflakes !!! Love love love

Thank you for noticing! This was mostly just fun practice because it had been a while since I last decorated cookies like this, so I was trying out different designs. I’m glad people here seem to like them!

Thanks! Paper cone decorating is sooo satisfying when you’ve got the hang of it.

Thank you for sharing! Especially love that it doesn’t require anything most bakers wouldn’t already have. Your cookies are gorgeous!
Beautiful!

Thank you! Once you get the hang of it you just kind of get into a trance haha anytime I use a paper cone, whether with icing to decorate a cookie or with melted chocolate to write with, I hold the cone with my left hand (leftie) and steady it with my right hand. It takes some practice but I love detailed tasks like this, and as a pastry chef it’s always a good skill to have!
Aweeeeee they are so beautiful!!! How intricate! Nice work!!!
