How long can a cannoli filled cake be left out of the fridge

I would want to get cannoli filling for a full-sized sheet cake that I am getting for a party. Some bakers are advising me that since it’s on the inside of the cake, it should be okay to leave it out of the refrigerator for up to 10 hours if I pick it up in the morning and serve it at night. Is that accurate? If not, what would be the earliest possible time to omit it?

It turns out that if they are left out at room temperature for longer than two hours, they go rotten.
