Local Costco doesn't sell raisin bread so.... yeah

Making bread for the first time—especially a 6-strand raisin egg bread like challah—is no small feat, and it sounds like you nailed it! Doing it all by hand without a mixer makes the process even more impressive, especially with the patience required for multiple rounds of rising.

Challah is one of those breads that combines artistry and flavor, and braiding it adds an extra layer of skill. The payoff of pulling that beautiful loaf out of the oven must have been so satisfying. Definitely a rewarding achievement—you’ve earned every bite of that delicious bread.

Beautiful! Good job.
