Yesterday, I came home from work to the sweetest surprise—my husband baked me a coffee cake for my birthday! I was completely caught off guard and so touched.
Since he works from home, he had promised to buy me some doughnuts, but that was just a clever distraction.
Coffee cake is my absolute favorite, and it’s impossible to find where we live. So, he went all out—baking a coffee-flavored cake, making a rich coffee ganache for the filling, and topping it with coffee buttercream.
I nearly cried.

Coffee and walnut cake is popular in the UK. It has coffee in it and has walnuts. I don’t like walnuts, so I will use pecans. I also put coffee in my chocolate cake to make it taste better.
