I’ll give it a try, thanks! Why does this feel so risky??

That’s the joy of baking.
You’ll have to judge, cut a tester piece.
If it’s just very dry - ladle over some milk/cream (you can sweeten or aromatise it with spices, cocoa or else before) and let it soak overnight.
If the flavor is affected as well, I’d crumble it into bite-size pieces, soak in custard overnight and make into a bread pudding.
@Luca
Thanks for the tips! I could definitely go for a bread pudding.

Is it hard and dry? Does it taste bitter?
It’s a little dry, but not horrible. I’m just serving it to myself so I guess it doesn’t really matter… just a nervous newbie lol.
Cut a slice of it. If the texture isn’t atrocious, have a bite.

It’s not so bad! I think I was just upset that I messed it up haha.

Oh, we all know that feeling. I got so discouraged working on my first babka yesterday because my hubby was telling me how our mixer works differently than others and I should adjust the recipe accordingly and I was prepping the dough on my lunch. I thought sure it was ruined and nearly tossed it and gave up.
But I pushed through and they look delicious. We get to try them today. (I finished at like 1 a.m.)

Even if the bottom and/or top is a bit burned, odds are the inside is still perfect.
I cut into it and you’re right! It looks fine inside. Maybe I’ll try again with a lower oven temp next time.
Put some ice cream on it!
Soak in milk?
Dunk it in milk. Or if all else fails you can make some ice cream and make it an add-in.
Only you can decide!
Hard to tell without having a taste.
You really have to watch and check on baked goods like this and cakes/cookies for future. Cookie recipes will usually have a 2-minute window; you need to check them every 20 or even 10 seconds to pull them at the right GBD (golden brown and deliciousness).
@Marley
Thanks for the tip! I’m not very good at cooking/baking and I think I trusted the recipe a little too much on the timing.
It’s only too burned if it tastes bad to you.
I’d at least take a bite. If it tastes good, I say go for it!!
If it’s dry, put some maple syrup, or egg nog and put in microwave for about 10 seconds.
