I used Sugarologie’s buttercream. Her recipes are great! It took me two tries to get it right, but it was worth it. The color comes from the black cocoa! She explains everything in her recipe and a YouTube video.
Here’s the recipe link: https://www.sugarologie.com/recipes/black-frosting
@Shannon
That’s awesome! Which method did you use, food processor or stand mixer

I used the stand mixer, but had trouble getting the syrup to mix well with the butter, so I ended up using my immersion blender. It worked, but it took longer than using the stand mixer would have. I don’t have a food processor, so I couldn’t try that method

Your cake actually looks better than hers! The photos on her recipe page are edited to make the colors pop. What you have here looks amazing though
I need to know how you got that color, it’s beautiful
Can we see a picture of it cut open
Wow that’s a really dark black. What dye do you use
It’s so beautiful
Looks great but how does it taste

The buttercream tastes like a milder Oreo! It paired perfectly with the pumpkin

That sounds delicious. I was worried it might taste bitter. Good job
I gasped when I saw this cake. Absolutely stunning. I love the black, this is one of the best black buttercreams I’ve ever seen! And the piping looks so good. Great job
The perfect goth cake for Fall
