The cheapest cake at the store for 40 people was $50 and honestly not very good. Their buttercream was made with shortening. I asked my 6 year old to help me create this instead. I noticed every flaw but he thought it was amazing. So if you’re ever in doubt about your work, just ask a 6 year old to judge it.

$40 is a great price for such a big cake
Does that include the toys
I honestly don’t get how they made any profit
I made it lol since the store cake was too pricey. $40 is what I spent on the supplies and toys. The butter was more expensive than the toys!
I absolutely love it! It looks fantastic!
I also enjoy making buttercream but sometimes I crave the cheap grocery store icing. It really hits the spot a couple of times a year!

It’s great when you need something like chapstick… it leaves a nice film on your lips after eating love your username by the way
@Rory
Thanks! I borrowed it from u/queefer_sutherland92
I love making cakes for kids and seeing their reactions because no matter how I feel about my work, they always treat the cake like it’s the best thing ever! But really, you did an awesome job! Great work!
@Lennon
Thanks! I was mostly focused on my mistakes instead of the whole cake. We are often our own worst critics.
That’s at least $70 for me.

Coupons and sales
I would have charged way more than $40 for this lol
Yep. It’s a two layer chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling. It was my first time trying a rectangle cake, plus two layers. I learned a lot. I used the parchment transfer method for a flat look.
You draw your design on parchment paper, freeze it to harden, and press it onto the cake. This lets you print your design (reverse it for letters) and use it as a stencil.
That’s all that matters! But I think you did a great job too
Wow I can’t decorate like that!
What matters is whether the birthday kid loves it… as adults we tend to look for flaws.

So true… why do we feel like it needs to be perfect
For $40 you couldn’t find a cake half as nice anywhere
Great job
Fantastic
Made with love always beats store-bought.
