Aunt Harriets gingerbread cookies:

  • Stir margarine, sugar and syrup smoothly.
  • Add water, spices and bicarbonate.
  • Knead with flour.
  • Work the dough.
  • Let the dough rest overnight.
  • Roll the dough thin, then shape the cookies.
  • Bake them for roughly 3 minutes at 250 degrees celcius, then let the cookies cool.

Recipe:

  • 300 g margarine (or butter)
  • 5 dl sugar
  • 1 dl syrup
  • 2 dl water
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of clove
  • 2 teaspoons of fine cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate
  • 8 (1/2) hektograms of flour
