I’m aiming to make soft, chewy, thick sugar cookies, but all the recipes I find are for cutouts. I’m unsure if I can use these recipes without cutting them, as I’m worried they might turn out dry or require different baking times. I’m not looking for star-shaped cookies—I just want delicious cookies I can enjoy right away. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
I am not so big of a baking person but here’s one that I’ve used a few times and the results are awesome each time.
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Procedure:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Using a cookie scoop or spoon, portion out dough into balls, about 1 1/2 tablespoons each, and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
Flatten each dough ball slightly with the palm of your hand.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just set and the tops are slightly golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy your sugar cookies!
You can add sprinkles or sugar on top before baking if you’d like a bit of extra sweetness and decoration.
