As the title says, I just made my very first cake—with some help from my mom, of course! It was a fun and quick process, and I definitely hope to bake more in the future. What inspired me to start baking was this subreddit—I love seeing all the amazing baked goods here, even if some aren’t my personal taste. I just really enjoy scrolling through this community…

All bakers start somewhere! I’d recommend recipes from King Arthur or Sally’s Baking Addiction. They’re loved by this forum community.

Nice work! If you liked this, there are always great new recipes to try. If there’s a tricky pastry you want to make, look for recipes that have similar techniques but are simpler. That way, you can build your skills one at a time before tackling something more complex. For instance, learning to make whipped cream and meringue before trying a Swiss roll cake can make things easier. Don’t get discouraged if something doesn’t go well; just figure out what went wrong and learn from it.
