a clay disk and an airtight container. Since I live in a very dry place, every time I refill the container, I take out the disk, rewet it, and pat it dry to help balance the moisture content.
Ideally, I choose a container that holds the amount of brown sugar you typically use within a reasonable timeframe. Less air space in the container means less chance of drying out.
The most effective way to prevent brown sugar from hardening is by storing it in an airtight container. Opt for a smaller container to minimize the amount of trapped air, as this helps maintain the sugar’s moisture. The shape of the container doesn’t matter as long as it seals well and doesn’t allow any air to pass through.
After I use it, I make sure to put it in a freezer bag and remove all the air before storing it away.
